About the Artists' Village…
Our Labour Day festival weekend is a grassroots family event, featuring multiple stages with performers from across the continent and around the corner. We also offer an exceptional array of talented visual artists, fabulous hands-on programming for families, fine local foods, and our Wellness and Sustainable Living Village displays and workshops. Our Artists' Village offers festival-goers a visit to an open air gallery of creative talent drawn from Northumberland and beyond.
This year's festival on Labour Day Weekend begins Friday September 2 to Sunday September 4, 2011.
2011 Deadline April 15th
As organizers we have chosen not to "rent" space in the Artists' Village. We invite those interested to participate in our application process which informs our experienced jury and helps its planning for this year's festival. Each year the jury carefully crafts a grouping of unique Artists' Village participants. A group of approximately 20 Artists will be selected. The jury is guided by a desire to create a vibrant and welcoming artist's community for the weekend that will support the contributions of the participating artists and encourage festival-goers to share in the experience. Our choices will be based on the quality and originality of the artist's work as well as a perceived willingness by the artist to interact with, and demonstrate artistic processes for visitors. In this way the artists become part of the festival community and we provide a more integrated and unique experience. We strive to offer new ideas and creativity as well as learning and an opportunity for interaction. Our Artists' Village evolves each year to appeal to both new visitors and regular festival goers. Our contributors become part of the Festival team presenting a weekend experience for the community.
