Henry Wiersma is a local builder who has always been interested in leading edge alternative building methods. He has recently joined the renaissance of natural building and is featuring compressed earth block manufacturing and construction. Earth blocks require little energy to produce, are economically sound, and create a place of harmony for body and soul.

Tina Therrien is owner/builder of Camels’ Back Construction, Ontario’s first full time straw bale building company. Camel’s Back offer workshops, presentations, and building services. If you’re interested in a more insulated dwelling (walls of R-40), a healthier home, or an aesthetically pleasing space, straw homes may be for you. Tina Therrien is co-author of “More Straw Bale Building”

A wonderfully preserved sanctuary that is intended to be kept and enjoyed in its natural state. This is truly one of Northumberland's jewels. The Marsh is a provincially significant wetland. Trails are cut out for walking and bird watching.

They are all perennials, which provide nectar and larval sources for butterflies and habitat and food for birds.
