A key element of the festival
is an area we call "The Village", which hosts artists'
displays and workshops, fine food service, and specific to this
application the Wellness and Sustainable Community booths. As organizers
we have chosen not to rent space in the village; rather, to jury
all participants in order to create a unique and vibrant Festival
Village for the weekend that will support the participating contributors
and encourage festival-goers to learn about and share in the experience.
With this approach we hope to provide a more integrated experience,
and enhance the opportunity for the community to understand the options
in sustainable community living and energy choices.
We are looking for contributors willing to interact with our audience
and demonstrate their area of interest. In this way contributors
become part of the Festival team presenting a unique weekend experience
for the community.
The Festival offers contributors:
- An opportunity to provide information
and services for the public
- Free access to the weekend festival
and camping
- Complimentary use of a 10 X 10 Festival tent
- Assistance with setting
up and dismantling of booths
- Facilitation of periodic breaks during
the Festival Village hours.
Contributors are expected to:
- Provide an attractive display in consultation with the
Festival selection committee
- Present their display during all operating
hours of the Sustainable Community Village
- Interact with the festival
audience in a friendly, inclusive manner
- Maintain the vision and
values of the Shelter Valley Folk Festival throughout the event
- Assist
the Festival by distributing promotional materials to personal
contacts in advance of the event.
